The APA California Northern Section is thrilled to announce “Urban CO[LAB]: Planners Supporting Arts, Culture, and Belonging,” a social fundraiser and forum designed to explore the intersection of urban planning, arts, and culture. Scheduled for Thursday, May 9th, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the New Parkway Theater in Oakland, this event promises an evening of insightful discussions, networking opportunities, and a celebration of the community’s creative spirit.

Event Details

"URBAN CO[LAB]: Planners Supporting Arts, Culture, and Belonging" will feature a buffet-style dinner, drinks, an engaging lineup of short films, and a moderated panel discussion with esteemed panelists Robert Ogilvie, Ashara Ekundayo, and Shannon Jackson. These experts will explore how planners and artists combine their expertise to create vibrant cities and how the planning profession can support arts, culture, and belonging through practice and policy.

Supporting Future Planners

In addition to fostering dialogue around arts and urban planning, the event will feature a silent auction benefiting the California Planning Foundation. Proceeds from the auction will provide scholarships to students from backgrounds underrepresented in the planning field, supporting the next generation of planners in their educational endeavors. If you would like to donate items for auction, please see the Call for Donations.

Tickets and Registration

Tickets for the event are available for purchase online. As space is limited, APA members and guests are encouraged to register early. Tickets are offered on a sliding scale and are also based on current membership to the APA Northern Section. Please select the ticket type that is appropriate for you.
