We are excited for the first Urban Philly Professional Network (UPPN) event of the New Year!

Join us on Friday, January 29nd, 2016 from 5:30-9pm as we introduce another installment of our UPPN After Work Mixer.

This month we will feature two youth development organizations lead by African-American CEOs for the first time in their organization's history; Legacy Youth Tennis and Education lead by newly appointed CEO, Lance Lee and Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region (formerly Southeastern PA region - 3rd largest BBBS in the country) led by Marcus Allen (CEO). Lance Lee and Marcus Allen will serve as "Honorary UPPN Connectors" at this upcoming event.

Meet this month's "Honorary UPPN Connectors:"

Marcus Allen

Marcus Allen, CEO - Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region

In April 2013, Marcus Allen became the first African American to serve as CEO of this storied organization which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2015. Operating the largest one-to-one mentoring program in the Commonwealth and the third largest BBBS agency in the Nation, Big Brothers Big Sisters Independence Region (BBBS Independence) is an innovative and successful mentoring program, having been a convening partner in the creation of both the Amachi Mentoring Children of Prisoners program as well as the Beyond School Walls workplace mentoring program – both of which have been replicated nationwide.


Lance Lee

Lance Lee, President & CEO - Legacy Youth and Education

Following nearly ten years of overseeing tennis programs at Legacy’s center in East Falls, with both on and off court responsibilities as a lead coach and program manager, Lance was named Interim President & CEO in June of 2015 and awarded the permanent position in October, 2015. Lance is a USTA certified High Performance Coach and certified PTR National Tester. He is a graduate of Hampton University and received his J.D. from the University of the District of Columbia. Lance grew up playing tennis at Legacy.

This month's mixer will be held at CODA located in Rittenhouse Square (1712 Walnut Street, Philadelphia PA.) CODA is a nice, upscale venue and will provide a great enviroment for this month's UPPN Professional/Social networking. This event will feature great music, great people, and a complimentary STELLA ARTOIS until 6:30pm. Admission is FREE with an RSVP only.
