Upmade system and Digital Product Passport workshop
Reet Aus PhD, Estonian Academy of Arts - DiMa

UPMADE® enables brands and manufacturers to apply industrial upcycling methods and obtain certification. A circular economy produces zero waste and pollution by design. In mass production, 25-40% of fabrics are considered production waste, ending in landfills. The Upmade system turns these leftover fabrics into garments, resulting in a remarkable 75% water reduction, 88% less energy use, and an 80% decrease in CO2 emissions compared to similar products made from virgin material. In the workshop, we will analyse how to transfer valuable information gathered through the Upmade system into a digital product passport.Fashion meets digitalisation via QR code, offering complete transparency regarding the product's manufacturing process, environmental impact, and methods to prolong its lifespan through repair, reuse, upcycling, and recycling.
