Create the best outfit you can!
The timer starts at 1 p.m. Entrants will have 15 minutes in the thrift store and 45 minutes to alter and improve their finds before showcasing their outfits in a fashion show.
Entrants can bring one model/friend to dress in the outfit they create.
There is a $5 entry fee, and first place will receive a cash prize!
ALL community members are encouraged to join in the fun!
Rules:
UpCycle Fest will begin at 11am. At 1pm participants of the fashion show challenge will gather near the entry of UpCycle thrift. Please show a staff member your ticket. All participants will then have 15 minutes to gather items for their outfit from the thrift store, textile recycling, and the makerspace. After the 15 minutes are up, participants will have 45 minutes to use the Makerspace sewing room and crafting supplies to alter and embellish their outfits. Sewing machines, hand sewing supplies, scissors, glue and other crafting supplies will be available. Previous sewing machine experience is necessary if using a machine, as staff will be unable to teach sewing machine basics. Participants will then gather at 2:00 at the staging area where the fashion show will begin! Bathrooms and changing areas will be available. You can model the items yourself or bring your own model. A vote will be taken live during the event. Winners will receive a cash prize!
