Allotments are generally focused on growing ‘edible and useful’ plants, but everyone can benefit from adding some flowers to their growing space, as they not only look beautiful and provide cut flowers throughout the growing season, they also encourage pollinators and can help with pest control. Whilst flower growing on allotments has often been discouraged and in some places limitations are placed on the amount of growing space that can be dedicated to flowers.
This workshop is about growing and maintaining flowers, both annual and perennial, and also about flowers that can still fit into the ‘edible and useful’ category and could be factored into an allotment plot to provide a crop.
