Welcome to the University City Juneteenth Art Fest!

Come join us for a day filled with creativity, culture, and community at Shoppes at University Place, Lakefront. Celebrate Juneteenth with artists showcasing their work, live music performances, dancers, games and giveaways, vendors, and free interactive painting activities for all ages.

Explore the vibrant art scene in University City and support talented creators while enjoying a fun-filled day outdoors. Don't miss out on this opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich history and artistic expressions of Juneteenth!

  • Ayah the Light, viral healing music senstaion will be bringing her "Good Vibes"
  • DEVN, local multi-instrumentalist R&B veteran and guest performer with Lute at Dreamville 2021, 2023, and 2024
  • Tracei, emerging Florida rapper and Johnson C. Smith graduate using her voice to advocate for the voiceless
  • TwinNation, professional dancers/twins Santae and Sanwone Benjamin, who’ve performed at the Super Bowl and World of Dance
  • DJ Jason Brown, esteemed grandson of musical legend James Brown
  • Boris "Bluz" Rogers, Emmy Award winner, Slam Master of Slam Charlotte, and Poet Laureate for the Harvey B. Gantt
  • Jay Ward, National Slam champion, Individual World Poetry Slam champion, and Charlotte's inaugural Poet Laureate
  • Nira Love, owner of Nira Love’s Fashion Brand, boutique owner and celebrity stylist will produce the Juneteenth-themed fashion show
  • Justin Ellis, Charlotte Black History featured artist utilizing mixed media to visually narrate personal stories
  • Mimi V, local artist performing all over Charlotte and in 2023 released her first EP, “Transitions”
  • Abstrack Maniak, boutique gallery owner in Plainfield, New Jersey, specializes in custom apparel and artwork
  • DDA Tink, soulful hip hop artist and songwriter with the ability to alternate from rap to harmonizing hooks; labeled “the quiet storm”
  • Dru Billions, owner of Uptown Inde, and official emcee the Juneteenth Art Fest

Creative direction was provided by Janeva Tyree, curator, host and art lead who helped conceptualize event activities in response to the community's desire for artistic expression and cultural celebration.

The festival aims to educate attendees of all ages and backgrounds on the historical and cultural significance of Juneteenth through African American art exhibitions, performances and activities, providing a platform for learning and fostering connections in the community.
