The Civil Rights Department is the state agency charged with enforcing California’s civil rights laws. The mission of the CRD is to protect the people of California from unlawful discrimination in employment, housing, businesses, and state-funded programs, and from bias-motivated violence and human trafficking.

<h2>United Against Hate Week Launch Event</h2><h3>Mark your calendars for the kickoff of United Against Hate Week 2023! This in-person event will take place on Monday, November 13, 2023 at 10:00am PT at  Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park in Berkeley, CA.</h3><p></p><p>Join Not in Our Town, the California Civil Rights Department, the City of Berkeley and LA vs Hate for the launch of United Against Hate Week 2023 with community and government partners from across the state, galvanizing a movement to stop the hate that threatens our communities.</p><p>United Against Hate Week (Nov. 12-18, 2023) is a call for local civic action to stop the hate and implicit biases that are a dangerous threat to the safety and civility of our neighborhoods, towns and cities. </p><p>Learn more about United Against Hate Week and other upcoming events <a href="https://www.unitedagainsthateweek.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">here</a>. Now in its sixth year, 200+ communities across the country have joined UAHW and committed to an annual week of action and awareness.</em> </p>
