Understanding Trauma and Creating Trauma Informed Cultures – Special Considerations for Older Adults

Trauma Informed Care (TIC) Assessment for Older Adults

Join Illume: The Behavioral Health Center of Excellence on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. (Central)

Description:

Given the growing research on the prevalence, consequences, and costs associated with trauma exposure, efforts to create "trauma-informed" organizations have been growing in popularity. What makes an organization "trauma-informed" is often not clear.

This training provides an overview of three important domains that characterize trauma-informed organizations: trauma-informed organizational environment, workforce development initiatives, and evidence-informed trauma-focused practices. These will be presented with a focus on how it interacts with the older adult population.

This training will be presented by Julie Blanco, LCSW, CRAADC. For the past 33 years, Illume Director of Training Julie Blanco has dedicated her career to supporting individuals living with mental illness and substance use concerns. Julie joined Community Alternatives in 1997 as a clinical supervisor, and has held numerous leadership roles since, including 11 years as Integrated Treatment Program Manager (first at Community Alternatives, then at Places for People following the two organizations’ merger). Julie joined Illume to oversee and present training and mentorship programs for the Center of Excellence. Julie is certified as a Trainer for TREM, is Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) member, a Certified Trainer of CRA, among other licensure and certifications.

This training is a part of the Older Adults and Behavioral Health collaboration, sponsored by Behavioral Health Network.
