Understanding, Self-Compassion, and Showing Empathy

"You think your pain and your heartbreak are unprecedented in the history of the world, but then you read."

~ James Baldwin

Our NEW monthly offering from the popular Poetry as a Tool for Wellness series!

Saturday, June 8, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. PDT / 12-2 p.m. MDT / 1-3 p.m. CDT / 2-4 p.m. EDT

To see and feel the world through another perspective may be the beginning of compassion and the route to empathy. Join us as we engage with images and poetry to increase our understanding and capacity to inhabit another’s skin. Experience how relating to an other can increase our self-compassion!

"…the world is so large, and we are so small. How dare an artist not imagine the world from the perspective of someone other than himself? It's all part of the on-going dialogue we must have between ourselves and the world"

~ Yusef Komunyakaa

This event's facilitator is Athena McClendon.
