Lincoln Families is bringing this training to providers in Solano, Mendocino, Lake, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Tuolumne and Calaveras counties. Understanding child development is important for social service providers to effectively engage with youth, understand neurodivergence and understand the impact of trauma on development. This training will provide an overview of neurotypical development from infancy to childhood. The training will also highlight neurodivergent development during this time frame.

Learning objectives:

* Participants will be able to describe infant development.

* Participants will be able to describe toddler development.

* Participants will be able to describe neurodivergent development.

Please note that in order to register for these free trainings you must be staff, caregiver or volunteer working directly with foster, adoptive or probation involved children, youth and their families in Alameda, Solano, Mendocino, Lake, Contra Costa, Humboldt, Tuolumne and Calaveras only. Participants outside of these areas aren't eligible.

Nicole Kelly is a clinical psychologist who consults with agencies on trauma-informed care, programming for commercially sexually exploited children (CSEC), culturally responsive services, vicarious trauma, and leadership development. Nicole has been training multidisciplinary audiences on trauma-related topics since 2015 and provides guest lectures at local universities on human trafficking. She has developed several of the training curriculums that are being utilized throughout California to better equip providers on working with commercially sexually exploited youth and youth at-risk of recruitment of CSEC. She has authored a CSEC prevention curriculum, “Word on the Street: Educating and Equipping Young Women and Girls,” a CSEC intervention curriculum, “The Empowerment Project: Redefining Young Women’s Strength, Beauty, and Courage” as well as a CSEC parenting prevention curriculum and a CSEC parenting intervention curriculum. She is currently in the process of publishing a book, “Embrace the Journey: Applying the Stages of Change with Commercially Sexually Exploited Girls” and has started a second book on applying harm reduction with CSEC. She has been an expert witness on CSEC and trauma in court. Her work has been recognized by Los Angeles County leaders and she has been awarded the State of California Senate Certificate of Recognition by Senator Joel Anderson.
