Understanding Multicultural Identity

Understanding Multicultural Identity

Online event
Monday, Mar 16 from 10 am to 11 am CDT
Overview

Participants will reflect on their multicultural identities, with space to engage in exploring our own Filipino identities.

Ethical counseling requires awareness of both culture and the relational dynamics it shapes.

In this workshop offered by Kasamahan, participants will reflect on their own multicultural identities, with space to engage in exploring our own Filipino identities. This workshop will also review how our client's multicultural identities influence diagnosis, treatment planning, and therapeutic rapport. Following the ACA code of ethics, participants will also learn how to use this framework to identify transference and countertransference, particularly in the current climate and respond ethically in practice.

Anna Patricia is a filipino-born dual citizen with a global perspective on health and wellness. Licensed in both School and Clinical Counseling, she has over a decade of experience in direct client care. Her clinical expertise falls in Family Therapy, Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Development, and the following in both adults and minors: ASD, PTSD, PDD, and other severe and persistent mental health disorders. In schools, in addition to her school counselor duties also specialized in providing professional development for licensed faculty on culture and mental health topics to support educational equity. She is trained by The National SEED Project out of The Southeast Seattle Education Coalition in Washington.
