!!  Trainings are expected to be a mix of in-person and virtual; however, in-person events may be changed to virtual format depending on the impact of the pandemic  !!The mission of the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth is to improve services to children by: facilitating joint planning and coordination among public and private agencies; independent monitoring of the children and youth service system for compliance with established responsibilities; and entering into agreements to test models and demonstration programs for effective services.

Oklahoma Commission On Children & Youth

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)—including abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction—can have lasting effects on a person's physical health, emotional well-being, and development. A trauma-informed perspective is essential for understanding the experiences of children and families involved in child welfare systems. Understanding ACEs training explores how trauma shapes behavior and decision-making, offering insight into the challenges families face beyond what is visible in case records. Participants gain a deeper understanding of trauma responses and resilience, supporting thoughtful, compassionate consideration of child welfare situations and outcomes.Seating capacity is limited to 30. Once we reach capacity, registrants will be automatically added to a waitlist. Learning Objectives:<ul><li>Understand the significance of the ACE Study</li><li>Be able to list some common behavioral and health impacts of ACEs</li><li>Describe the difference between Positive Stress and Toxic Stress</li><li>Know the 4 R's of Trauma-Informed Care</li><li>Begin to recognize when behavior may be a trauma response</li></ul>
