Ricardo Morales, Mimi Stillman, & Amy Oshiro-Morales premiere a commission by Reinaldo Moya & perform works by Beethoven, Rota, & Poulenc.
An all-star cast of new and returning Chiarina artists premieres Reinaldo Moya’s Mismo Sol (Same Sun), a commission supported by the Koussevitsky Foundation at the Library of Congress and a musical reflection on crisis and resilience in Venezuela. Clarinetist Ricardo Morales shines in Beethoven’s buoyant trio, and Nino Rota's frolicsome work is brought to life by flutist Mimi Stillman and violinist Amy Oshiro-Morales. Poulenc’s Flute Sonata — a 1957 Library of Congress commission — adds extra virtuosity to this colorful program.
