Have you walked or biked the Nose Creek Pathway, or driven on Edmonton Trail recently? Then you may have seen a small sign by Nose Creek that reads “N25.” It’s not what it appears to be, but is actually a natural secret, hidden in plain sight. Come learn about the significance of a natural asset driven deep into the heart of the Greenview Industrial Area over years of development.
Burying streams has serious negative ecological and social implications. Fortunately, no river or stream is ever truly lost, and given the right amount of effort even the most degraded and forgotten stream can be rehabilitated to a healthier and more functional state. The Friends of Confederation Creek invite you to a conversation about the history and future of Confederation Creek, while retracing its hidden hydrology with you.
Elliot Lindsay with Freshwater Conservation Canada and FOCC will join us to show off some of the fish living in Nose Creek, and which could live in a restored and reconnected Confederation Creek.
WALK NOTES: Our conversation will take place on the eastern side of Nose Creek, opposite N25, on a flat and level spot. If so inclined, participants can then follow the gently sloping Greenview portion of the orth Hill Coulee, to Centre Street, to trace the path of the busied creek.
MEETING SPOT: Meet in the creek-side free parking lot of 625 42 Ave NE, Calgary, AB T2E 6S1.
WALK LEADER: Simone Lee. President, Friends of Confederation Creek.
