At 3690 Duncan, Jack Daniels worked closely with his teacher Nearest Green whose family would go on to found Uncle Nearest in his honor. Join us to learn more about his time here in St. Louis, his journey, and sample the whiskey that made him famous.Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey is inspired by the best whiskey-maker the world never knew, the first African-American master distiller on record in the United States, Nearest Green. The Uncle Nearest brand, wholly owned by Uncle Nearest, Inc., encompasses a premium aged whiskey, an 11-year-old single barrel product, and a 7-year-old small batch offering, all distilled, aged, bottled and hand-labeled in Tennessee. Fawn Weaver, the founder of Uncle Nearest Premium Whiskey, has amassed a $50 million venture capital fund to seed minority-owned spirits businesses.“I think that we did something that hadn’t been tried before, which was to essentially say, listen, what we’re making is good enough for everyone and we want to bring everyone to the table ... and we’ve seen a great deal of success, I believe, because of that,” said Weaver, the first African American woman to lead a major spirits brand.
