Welcome to our Bonsai community! We are a team of bonsai enthusiasts who believe that what makes a bonsai truly special is the care we give it. Through our classes and workshops, we aim to share our knowledge and teach you the skills needed to maintain a healthy bonsai. Our courses cover a range of topics including repotting, pruning, styling techniques, soil structure, wiring, and pest control. Within a relaxed atmosphere at our tree-filled studio, we encourage you to challenge yourself and take the first step in getting to know your bonsai. Don't worry, we'll be there to guide you through the sometimes scary process of cutting your bonsai. Your bonsai will thank you for it!

Dandy Farmer Bonsai

Learn basic bonsai techniques to start transforming plants into bonsai. Learn why it is important to have a good soil mix, how to look at and prune roots, and how to choose the right angles when repotting. Take this knowledge home and apply it to other plants as well.This class is for total beginners.Class limited to 6 students.&#x27;Boba&#x27; the Dwarf Umbrella Tree, Schefflera arboricola &#x27;variegata&#x27;Native to Southeast Asia, my leaves are a glossy green and fan out like tiny umbrellas. In Feng Shui, I am used to capture positive energy and protect the home. I make a great apartment friend because I&#x27;m tolerant of many conditions, including some shady north facing windows and corners. Note: I&#x27;m am not a pet friendly plant.Materials Provided: one bonsai tree, handmade gray bonsai planter by Jonathan Castro Design, soil, decorative rocks, necessary tools for repotting. Other materials on site available for purchase.About the instructors:Matthew Puntigam lived and worked in Tokyo for 7 years learning bonsai techniques and garden skills while apprenticing at Kaneyama Landscape Design and Sinajina Bonsai Shop. He opened Dandy Farmer in 2016 to bring the art of bonsai and the benefits of working closely with trees to friends and communities in NYC.FAQsDo I need to bring anything to the workshop?All bonsai making materials will be provided. Keep in mind there will be soil and water, possibly flying through the air. You may want to bring an apron if you are a messy planter and want to keep dirt off your lap (we provide gloves if you&#x27;d like to use them and we have a sink nearby).Can I bring my bonsai home with me?Absolutely! You should even give it a name. We&#x27;ll show you how to package your new plant well enough to make the journey home , and send you off with watering instructions because, well, water is everything.What&#x27;s the refund policy?Sorry, but there are no refunds within 7 days of the event, due to a limited number of spots in the workshop and the preparation involved.How can I contact the organizer with any questions?You can send us an email to hello@dandyfarmer.com and we&#x27;ll get back to you.
