About this event
The ukulele is a terrific instrument to start your musical journey. Its small size and light weight makes it a great starter instrument for teens, while its versatility and ease of play makes it an excellent choice for adults too! Learn just a few simple chords, and you’ll be able to play hundreds of songs – best part, no prior experience needed! This experience is designed to give teen and adult participants the confidence to play in a group and on their own. Phil will encourage chord playing and keeping time in a group, as well as explore music theory, and playing a full song together and individually. You will learn 5 of the most common chords in C Major (the most popular musical key), and strumming (plus fingerpicking, scales & solo’ing) styles to discover your own ability & unique musical personality to shine through (even in a group) everyone will explore & develop their own style. We focus on fun music. We are a relaxing, beginner-friendly ukulele experience where Phil will guide you through the steps and encourage you to release your inner artist. With BYO options, you choose the pace of your night on our relaxing yet fun outdoor patio with ocean views.
We recommend arriving at The Lair 10 minutes before the experience begins as to give you plenty of time to get comfortable, set up, and get the wines flowing. The running time is 2 hours.
All events including ukeLAIR Nights are BYO only! We don’t sell any alcoholic drinks at The Lair, so it’s important to remember to bring your favorite bottle with you! If you do happen to forget – we’ll be more than happy to point you in the right direction.
We are an inclusive, safe environment and non-alcoholic or alcohol options are welcomed unless advised in the experience’s description. So, bring your naughty water of choice; wine, seltzers, bubbles, beer, and pre-mixed drinks – but leave the Rum and Vodka at home.
Yes, our events all have an ice cooler on the deck to keep drinks cold! We also have cups too so no need to bring plastic cups!
In the rare event that a public experience is cancelled, you will be notified via app, e-mail, or text message no later than 24 hours prior to their experience scheduled start time. You will be offered a reschedule to another upcoming experience or a refund.
Of course, you can! The Lair hosts private events/experiences of all types: birthdays, bridal showers, anniversaries, team building, “just because”, etc. We can create bespoke events outside of these to suit your request.
Absolutely! We provide certificates for any amount of guest up to 9 which can be used for any upcoming public experiences. Gift Certificates are non-refundable. All gift certificates are valid for 1 year from time of purchase.
All participants in The Lairs public events must be 13 and over. Private functions are a completely different strumming pattern and can accommodate ages 10 and up.
