The company started in 1795, seven direct line descendants of Jacob Beam have been the Master Distillers in their family's whiskey production. The Flagship brand was given the name "Jim Beam" in 1933 in honor of James Beauregard Beam, who rebuilt the distillery at the age of 70 in 120 days after Prohibition ended. The Jim Beam Distilleries are located in Clermont, Kentucky and Boston, Kentucky. Jim Beam is a wholly owned subsidiary of Beam Suntory Brands of Osaka, Japan.
