What the world needs now is a little more strength and a little more fun!Get both with the Uffda Challenge!What is it?<ul><li>The Uffda Challenge is an obstacle course that will challenge you mentally and physically as you and the other racers run, jump, climb, and crawl your way to the finish!  There are Open and Compete Divisions in the 5k and 10k distances, and there will also be a 1.5k Youth Heat!  Choose the Open Division and you and your friends can work and laugh your way through the course just focused on completing the challenge.  Choose the Compete Division, and you will vie for the awesome Thor&#x27;s Hammer trophy!  </li></ul>Why should I do this?<ul><li>This year, the Uffda Challenge is going beyond just an obstacle course.  Over the past couple of years, mental health issues have worsened all over the world, as well as right here in our home town.  We believe that through promoting a healthy, active lifestyle and connecting people with the resources they need, we can help combat these issues.  We are partnering with local organizations to raise awareness around mental health tools and resources. Also, a portion of the proceeds will be donated directly to Elevate, a non-profit whose mission is to provide a safe haven for every single teen.  </li></ul>What does it cost?<ul><li> 1.5k - Open - $30</li><li> 1.5k - Compete - $40</li><li> 5k - Open - $40</li><li> 5k - Compete - $50</li><li> 10k - Open - $50</li><li> 10k - Compete - $60</li><li>FOR STUDENTS 2nd -12th grade: Enter Promo code &quot;STUDENT&quot; to receive a discount. Students must be 16 or older to enter the Compete division and 14 or older to enter an Open division race without an accompanying adult. Children ages 8 - 13 may take part in the special Youth 1.5k Heat (Specify at checkout) or may enter any Open division race provided they are accompanied by a responsible adult. </li></ul>***Prices are for online registration by 8pm August 5th. Add $5 for day-of registration.Entry includes finisher medal, swag bag, and, IF REGISTERED BY JULY 15TH, a t-shirt!  T-shirts cannot be guaranteed after July 15th, so be sure to register early!Some obstacles may require assistance/teamwork to complete.  If you cannot complete an obstacle, you may simply bypass the obstacle, but you are encouraged to perform a 10 burpee penalty (optional).  The challenge is for everyone, so don&#x27;t let the fear of not being able to do something stop you!  This is an opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and see what you can do!Check out the Group registration option and build your team with a custom team page and link! Challenge other teams for Uff Da bragging rights and prizes for Best Costume!  Fire vs. Police?  Football vs. Wrestling? Teachers vs. Students?  Unite your clan and charge to victory!Compete Heat racers vie for Thor&#x27;s Hammer!It all goes down August 6th, so grab your friends and hang on for a wild ride!***UPDATE***Here are a few key elements that will help everything move smoothly and make it a positive experience for everyone.Race Day Itinerary<ul><li>8am - Registration opens</li><li>8:30am - 1st Heat (All Compete Division distances and the 10k Open Division)</li><li>9:00am - 2nd Heat (1.8k and 5k Open)</li><li>9:30am - 3rd Heat (1.8k and 5k Open)</li><li>10:00am - 4th Heat (1.8k and 5k Open)</li><li>11:00am - Youth Heat</li>Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of your heat. Parking is available in the Oakland Park lot and along Baken Street. Please do not park in the Oakland Park Nursing Home parking lot. Race day registrations are allowed, but must be completed online. </ul>At the registration table:<ul><li>You will be checked in (have your ticket ready)</li></ul>Sign your waiver (under 18 parent signature required)<ul><li>Receive your race bag with wristband and assorted goodies</li><li>Receive your t-shirt (depending on availability at your time of registration)</li><li>Receive your competitor buff (if registered for Competitive Division, please wear during race)</li><li>View the awesome custom-made Thor Hammer trophies for the overall male and female winners of each Competitive Division distance. If you would like to upgrade your entry to the competitive division to have a shot at a hammer, please email us for instructions.</li><li>Gather at the Start/Finish line 10 minutes prior to your heat. You will be reminded of the basic rules, encouraged to kick some tail, and turned loose upon the course!</li></ul>Here are a few basic rules:<ul><li>Have fun. This is going to be hard and that&#x27;s ok. Just do your best, try even if you don&#x27;t think you can, try it a few times if you want to! If it doesn&#x27;t work, laugh, give someone a high five, and keep going!</li><li>Help each other. The challenge is the course, not the other runners. Cheer each other on, help each other with obstacles (Competitive Division may help others in their division), help make sure everyone makes it and has a good time. In the event that a racer or obstacle requires our attention, please notify the nearest volunteer.</li><li>If you are in the Competitive Division and you fail to successfully complete an obstacle, you must perform 10 burpees before you proceed. For every burpee, your chest must fully touch the ground at the bottom and both feet must leave the ground at the same time at the top. For Open Divisions, the burpees are optional. You decide the standard you desire to hold yourself to. </li><li>A few examples of a failed obstacle for the Competitive Division would be: not slapping the board at the top of the rope climb, touching the ground between platforms on the rope swing, balance beams, or one-rope bridge, or using the supports on the sides to climb over the top of the walls.</li><li>For the 5k and 10k, every time you complete a lap be sure to get your mark from the volunteer at the water checkpoint. </li></ul>At the end of your final lap, turn off toward the finish line, scale the final obstacle, ring the bell at the top, and, after one final leap of faith, receive your finisher medal!Be sure to check out our Facebook page as we will be updating with pictures of obstacles and answering any last minute questions we receive from you!Stay strong,-Coach Tate and the Uff Da Challenge Team
