Sardine is poet Miriam Reyes' first full-length publication in Galician, her maternal grandfather's native tongue. In a penthouse in Manhattan, protagonist Connor plays dead for his wealthy older boyfriend Felix. Elsewhere, in a dark, wet basement in 1999, he plays Double Serpent with his invisible friend while he waits for Fake Dad to be done with his business upstairs.Stine An, translator of Yoo Heekyung's <a href="https://uglyducklingpresse.org/product/winter-night-rabbit-worries/" title="https://uglyducklingpresse.org/product/winter-night-rabbit-worries/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Winter Night Rabbit Worries</a>Structured as a series of stories, Winter Night Rabbit Worries presents narrative and linguistic architectures that dissolve the opposition between those materials that construct the this and the that side of life—past and future, truth and falsehood, memory and fantasy. Stine An's translation of Yoo Heekyung's fifth poetry collection brings the Korean poet's dizzying and tender voice in which the boundaries between the self and other unravel.Timothy Ashley Leo, <a href="https://uglyducklingpresse.org/product/the-dogs-letter/" title="https://uglyducklingpresse.org/product/the-dogs-letter/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Dog's Letter</a>The Dog’s Letter traverses the sounds and silences of a family tending to a suffering child, Maya. In pursuit of an affective origin of the word canicular, the poems trace the dimensions of a yellow zone between hospital walls and the exhaustion of the first person. With Maya as guide, the sequence gathers what it can of her words–before she refuses to speak.
