Staff Summer Celebration

The 2023 UC San Diego Staff Summer Celebration is Thursday, August 17 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. at the UC San Diego Epstein Family Amphitheater. This year’s Staff Summer Celebration will feature giveaways, staff affiliate booths, a delicious Mediterranean lunch served by UCSD Catering and entertainment provided by Cassie B Project, a fun top 40s band. Join us in celebrating our staff shining stars with an energetic outdoor concert at our new state-of-the-art performance venue.

LOCATION:

The Epstein Family Amphitheater is located in the Pepper Canyon Neighborhood at UC San Diego. The event entrance is located off of Russell Lane and Rupertus Lane (West entrance closest to Visual Arts Center). Please note, this is the only entrance for the Staff Summer Celebration.

TICKET:

Tickets are required for all staff attending the event. Staff will need to reserve and download an e-ticket to their mobile device via Eventbrite and show their UCSD staff ID to receive lunch and attend the event activities. Tickets will be available beginning at noon on Tuesday, August 1 on a first come, first served basis. Be sure to reserve your ticket the day they become available, as quantities are limited and typically “sell out.”

VOLUNTEER:

The Staff Association is looking for volunteers to help with the event. All volunteers will be guaranteed a lunch and other goodies. Sign up, HERE.

PARKING & TRANSPORTATION:

We encourage main campus staff to walk or use campus shuttles. Special parking accommodations will be available for any off-campus staff in Parking Lots 704 and 705. Event shuttle service will be provided to take staff from these lots to the shuttle stop at the Design and Innovation Building. Follow signage to the event entrance. Shuttle service will be available from 11 a.m to 2:30 p.m.

The Medical Center, Mesa Nueva, North Campus, SIO, South Campus and West Campus Connector shuttles will be running during the summer sessions. Visit the transportation website for details.

Take the trolley! We encourage staff to take the UCSD Blue line trolley to the UCSD Central Campus Station, plan your route here.

ENTERTAINMENT:

We are excited to have Cassie B Project performing at this year's Staff Summer Celebration! Be sure to grab your friends to sing and dance along to some of our favorite top 40s hits.

Check out the Staff Association booth for some fun prizes and be sure to visit the Pixter 360 photo booth to create a fun video with your colleagues!

All attendees must bring a ticket and Staff ID to attend the event.

***Please cancel your ticket if you cannot come to the event, to allow other staff the opportunity to attend.

FAQ’s:

1. Do I need to bring my ticket? YES - please bring a digital copy of your ticket to the event

2. Do I need to bring my Staff ID. YES - please bring your staff ID

3. Will lunch be included with my ticket? YES - lunch will be provided to all staff who have a ticket and attend the event

4. Can I bring a non UC San Diego employee, family member or friend to the event? NO - all attendees must be UC San Diego employees

5. Will there be a day of event waitlist if all the tickets are sold out? YES - there will be a waitlist available on-site the day of the event. Please check-in at the Will Call booth at Epstein Family Amphitheater (by the event entrance) starting at 11:30am. If tickets become available, they will be given out on a first come, first serve basis. There is no guarantee that tickets will become available.

5. If I am unable to secure a ticket is there an opportunity to participate in any activities on the day of the event? NO. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the new event location, a ticket is required for entry. However, on the day of, please make your way to the Will Call booth near the event entrance. If there is availability when all ticket-holders have made their way through the line, we will be admitting will-call on a first come first-served basis.
