Functional programming is monads, but you don't have to understand them to use them productively. And why all this? Because I guarantee you that once you have the aha effect, you won't want to program any other way. I don't know anyone who understands functional programming and then doesn't want to write everything this way. Why? Because functional programming is a way of writing and structuring code that helps the programmer immensely to be able to navigate, extend, refactor, and test the code. How is this possible?
