The Roaring 20s: Celebrating a Century of Resilience

February 22-25, 2023

Welcome!

Chattanooga State Community College and Pellissippi State Community College are proud to co-host the 58th annual conference of TYCA-SE at the historic Read House Hotel in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee. Plan to arrive early in time for Wednesday night's Chair's Reception and stay to the end for the fabulous door prizes at our closing session. You won't want to miss a minute of TYCA-SE 2023!

The Roaring 20s: Celebrating a Century of Resilience

We invite you to explore our theme of "The Roaring 20s: Celebrating a Century of Resilience" by proposing a session regarding the state of education in the 2020s. As in the 1920s, our current higher education situation involves overcoming attacks on social, political, economic, and even biological fronts. As we move into a post-pandemic world, our diverse student population faces a world of uncertainty and extreme polarization, which creates anxiety in the classroom for both teachers and students. Our traditional and non-traditional students have spent the last two years in and out of quarantine, sometimes losing the ability to successfully engage in academic discourse, whether in-person or remotely. At the same time, economic and health concerns have made committing to the full-time college experience difficult. And yet, educators continue to embrace the ideals of education to confront the problems of teaching in the current climate and surmount the shifting contexts of our modern workforce.
