About this event

  • 4 hours 30 minutes

Unlike traditional American rolling pins, which have a center cylinder that rolls between two handles, French-style rolling pins consist of a wood dowel and nothing else. No internal ball bearings, no handles. In this class, you will turn – on a lathe – a striking piece of laminated hardwood such as walnut or hard maple into a tapered rolling pin. When well made, they easily flattened pie dough into an even circle without tearing, gracefully transferred dough to a pie plate, and never get stuck.

This is your opportunity to learn the ins and outs of turning a piece of spindle art which not only looks good on display, but looks even better when put to use making pies, cookies, or whatever you need a pastry dough spread out evenly. They also make amazing gifts.

All participants receive a 15% discount on merchandise purchased in the store on the same day of their class. Exclusions apply. Consider 1 on 1 private instruction. Email us separately at store55@rockler.com to let us know what you're interested in learning and we will tailor a 3 hour class to your exact needs.
