Tulsa Artist Fellowship is pleased to announce a book launch and performance by Carl Antonowicz at the Fellowship’s project space in Tulsa’s Arts District.Antonowicz’s new graphic novel TURMRING is a grim medieval fantasy set in the town of the same name, where Yulienne has grown weary of her continued responsibilities as a mother, wife, and embroiderer. She, like all the village’s other residents, is imprisoned there by the miles of toxic fog called the Miasma, which is held back by a group of anchoresses who have woven a mystic barrier at the town’s edge. As Yulienne’s duties begin to overwhelm her, she must make a choice: stay in Turmring with her mounting resentment, or risk mutilation and death in the Miasma.TURMRING is the latest installment in the shared world of the ROODLANDS, a series of loosely-connected comics stories that Antonowicz has been crafting since 2015. This shared setting is influenced by real events and aspects of medieval history, ranging from the Leper’s Plot of 1325, to the jeweled skeletons of the Low Countries, to the practice of anchoritic monasticism.Antonowicz will be performing UNTIL THE BLOOD RUNS BLACK, a Roodlands story set during the Crusades. In this one man show, Antonowicz will voice Jean and Bernard, a pair of hapless crusaders whose time in the Holy Land has failed to fatten their pockets or win them notable glory. On the eve of the army’s departure, the two stumble upon a priceless relic that may just make their fortunes--or kill them on the way…This will be the third time Antonowicz has performed UNTIL THE BLOOD in Tulsa, the first time having been at Cameron Studios as a part of First Friday in August 2019.Accessibility Information and Building Expectations Event capacity is limited and reservation is required. Please do not attend in-person Tulsa Artist Fellowship events if you have recently tested positive for COVID-19, if you have had close contact with anyone who is confirmed or suspected of having COVID-19 and/or you are feeling unwell. Staff are deeply appreciative for everyone’s cooperation and will enforce these visitor guidelines to keep our artistic community healthy and safe.The performance and artwork viewing space is wheelchair accessible. Variable seating will be provided in addition to space for distanced standing and wheelchairs. The performance includes the scent of baking cookies. Family style private washrooms will be available, designed to support visitors with disabilities, and caregivers who need access to increased space and changing tables.
