Parents and Caregivers of Johnston Heights Secondary!

If language is a barrier for you and you would communicate better in a different language please email me at bassi_r1@surreyschools.ca or let the school know.

Want to understand what your teenage child may truly be experiencing as they navigate this tumultuous stage of life? Hear from a diverse group of 10 to 12 students from a neighboring school as they candidly discuss how they experience and cope with stress, peer relationships, social media, substance use, and most instructively, what they appreciate from their parents and what they might wish to be different. This is a powerful experience that helps parents to be more tuned in to how their own children might be experiencing teenage life and to reflect on their parenting approach. Parents are silent as they listen for understanding and at the end of the youth conversation, parents can share one appreciation and one learning they will bring home.

Food and light refreshments will be offered at 5:45pm, parents will be prepared prior to the youth joining the circle at 6:15pm and the youth sharing until 7:45pm. Parent reflections will happen at the end once youth have shared.

if you cannot attend, please do ensure that you de-register yourself if you cannot make it. There is often a wait list for this event and we have had seats unattended in years past. THIS IS ONLY FOR THE PARENTS OF JOHNSTON HEIGHTS STUDENTS. Similar events are occurring at Kwantlen Park, Salish Secondary, Sullivan Heights, Clayton Heights and more parents of other schools across the Surrey school district.
