About this event

About this event:

Gabriel Willow leads programs for NYC Audubon and has been featured in the NY Times, Time Out NY, and more.

Walk through Central Park on 4 spring evenings while Gabriel points out the incredible diversity of migrating and resident birds - plants and wildflowers too!

Learn how to identify birds by sight and sound, and learn more about their ecology and behavior.

Believe it or not, NYC is one of the premiere birding destinations in the world. We are located right on the Atlantic Migratory Flyway, and every spring, millions of birds representing hundreds of species pour through our region, brightening our parks and other green spaces with their colors and song. Balmy spring evenings are a beautiful time to get outside to take a closer look at the wildlife that calls NYC home.

Join Gabriel on an easy stroll through Central Park to witness the wonder of spring migration. Groups limited to 15 people. Bring binoculars if you have them. Register for the whole series or just one walk.

Organized by

Gabriel Willow has been a lover of nature his whole life. Raised in rural Maine, he followed his passion for wild places and wildlife - particularly birds - to Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Vermont and southern Mexico, and earned a degree in ecology. In 2003, he found nature in the least likely of places: New York City.

He’s been here ever since, working with the Prospect Park Audubon Center, NYC Audubon, the Bryant Park Corporation, Wave Hill, Lincoln Center, and other organizations and cultural institutions, helping fellow New Yorkers experience the same incredible thrill of discovering interesting wildlife in the midst of the city. His winter harbor ecology tours were called "The Best Thing About Winter in NYC" by Time Out New York , and his self-designed eco-cruises and nature tours have been written up in The New York Times, The New Yorker, New York Magazine, and more.
