About this event

Death Cafes began in London in 2011 and have now taken place in 87 countries in the world! Death Cafes are safe, respectful conversation groups to "increase awareness of death with the aim of helping people make the most of their (finite) lives" (deathcafe.com). Since going virtual due to the pandemic (we are now also back in person), people have joined our Tucson Cafe from Nigeria, the UK, Hungary, the Netherlands, Ecuador, Columbia, Canada, and all over the U.S. Death Cafes have no agenda, script, or leading questions. Conversation is led by whatever is on the minds and hearts of participants. We’ve talked about practical aspects of death such as what to do with possessions, how we want to be buried and remembered, diverse world cultural death practices, how to talk with family, anticipatory grief, physical, emotional and spiritual pain, musings on soul, afterlife, beloved animal companions and so much more! Along with thoughts and stories we naturally share books, movies, songs and what is keeping us sane in a fast-changing world. To read our blogs see www.facebook.com/TucsonDeathCafe.
