AI has begun to transform the way communicators develop messages, create content, and engage their audiences. Join us as we hear from two AI experts who will guide us in exploring how AI can elevate our creative and professional work. From designing impactful presentations to streamlining the writing process to enhancing videos, you will learn about today’s top AI tools and how they can work for you. We’ll also discuss AI’s limitations, ethical considerations when using AI, and pitfalls to avoid as you add new resources to your toolbox.


Whether you are crafting a message for the public, internal stakeholders, or the media, or just curious about AI in general, this session is for you! You’ll leave inspired and better equipped to use these new technologies thoughtfully and effectively.


Lorna Gonzalez, Ph.D. has been an educator for 20 years, in both secondary and higher education. In her role as Assistant Vice President for Digital Learning at CSU Channel Islands, Lorna oversees a professional team of learning designers, academic technologists, and specialists in academic media and accessibility. She is a well-published author with over 20 articles and book chapters focused on emerging technologies and learning for professional and scholarly venues.


Michael McGarry is an Academic Technology Lead and Administrator at CSU Channel Islands, focused on creating and teaching well-designed educational experiences. He began his journey in higher education after graduating from CSU Channel Islands in 2011 with a BA in Art, with an emphasis in graphic and web design. He received his Masters in Instructional Design and Technology from CSU Fullerton in 2017. Michael is a tinkerer, music lover, creator, and a fan of adventure.
