Overview

Join TXICFW for Session 4 of their four-part series on Trust-Based Relational Intervention for foster and adoptive caregivers!

The Texas Institute for Child and Family Wellbeing invites foster and adoptive caregivers to attend a virtual workshop on Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). This virtual workshop covers 8-hours of content across four days (2-hour sessions). Registrants are encouraged to attend all 4 days to receive full insight.

TBRI is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. This interactive, 8-hour workshop will provide participants with an introduction to TBRI, Correcting, Empowering, and Connecting approach as developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross. Certificates of completion will be provided.

Objectives:

  1. Define the Correcting Principle and explain how it supports healthy boundaries and self-regulation.
  2. Differentiate between proactive strategies (teaching skills) and responsive strategies (addressing misbehavior in the moment).
  3. Practice tools such as choices, compromises, and re-dos to guide behavior while maintaining connection.
  4. Identify the importance of caregiver self-regulation when correcting challenging behaviors.
  5. Apply correcting strategies to foster responsibility, respect, and trust in caregiver-child relationships.

Presenter: Nicole Washington, MA or Jenna Williams, M.ED

This training is open to all caregivers, including foster parents, adoptive parents, and kinship caregivers. We encourage everyone to register for a date for all four training sessions, as the sessions will cover different topics. All training sessions will be offered on two different dates.
