Trust-Based Relational Intervention Course: Session 3

The Texas Institute for Child & Family Wellbeing (TXICFW) is a team of researchers and practitioners developing and refining knowledge to improve how systems interact with children and families. We conduct research, evaluate interventions and programs, develop trainings, and build capacity in child welfare, adolescent health, and families’ economic and social supports. Join TXICFW for Session 3 of their four-part series on Trust-Based Relational Intervention for foster and adoptive caregivers!

The Texas Institute for Child and Family Wellbeing invites foster and adoptive caregivers to attend a virtual workshop on Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). This virtual workshop covers 8-hours of content across four days (2-hour sessions). Registrants are encouraged to attend all 4 days to receive full insight.<a href="https://child.tcu.edu/tbri/" title="https://child.tcu.edu/tbri/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">TBRI</a> is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable children. This interactive, 8-hour workshop will provide participants with an introduction to TBRI, Correcting, Empowering, and Connecting approach as developed by Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross. Certificates of completion will be provided.Session 3 Objectives:<ol><li>Identify techniques in each of the three principles to use with their children.</li><li>Explore their family history and self-awareness as they relate to their parenting style.</li><li>Identify changes to a child’s environment that may help reduce stress.</li><li>Enhance understanding of how to interpret behavior and respond appropriately.</li><li>Recognize the difference between “safety” and “felt safety” and the importance of the distinction.</li></ol>Presenter: Nicole Washington, MA or Jenna Williams, M.EDThis training is open to all caregivers, including foster parents, adoptive parents, and kinship caregivers. We encourage everyone to register for a date for all four training sessions, as the sessions will cover different topics. All training sessions will be offered on two different dates.
