About this event

The Cathedral Foundation presents TriState Black Pride "Educational Break Out Sessions & Job Fair."

Each Break Out Session is intentionally planned to provide information to address a dire need that the Black LGBTQ Community is facing. Each Break Out Session is a class formed to meet the needs of individuals who are disadvantaged by poverty, race, and their LGBTQ identity. LGBTQ African Americans are not fully accepted by the broader white LGBTQ community or by the heterosexual community.

The rejection, lack of acceptance and inclusion have contributed to low self-esteem, guilt, depression, rejecting and feelings of inadequacy.  As a result, there has been a rise in HIV/AIDS, mental health issues, suicide prevention, survival sex work, substance use, unemployment and homelessness.

The Cathedral Foundation core belief is to adequately address these systemic issues by offering access to educational, empowerment and enriching programs such as these break out sessions.
