Welcome to the Tribesourcing Southwest Film Project Workshop!
Join us at the Cline Library – Northern Arizona University for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn all about repatriating vintage outsider films about Native peoples by recording new audio tracks from within your community. This in-person event will bring together THPOs, librarians, museum and cultural center workers, community members, elders, and students to record and upload new culturally-informed audio tracks for mid-centry films about Indian communities.
During the workshop, you'll have the opportunity to view 'social studies' films from the 1940s and 50s in NAU Special Collections and the American Indian Film Gallery, craft responses, and record a sample counter-narrative ("talk-back") to upload into a Mukurtu site that is locally controlled by your community. Whether you're an information professional, traditional knowledge keeper, student, or cultural worker this workshop is the perfect place to immerse yourself in Tribesourcing practice and respond to films that depict your community.
