Triangle Virtual Summer Open Studios (on Zoom)

Triangle is excited to announce virtual Summer Open Studios on Thursday, August 19! Due to rising infection rates, our Open Studio will be virtual. Each artist will offer an intimate look at their studio practice and current work via an interactive Zoom conversation. We hope to see you there!6:30 - 7:00 PM: Slinko7:00 - 7:30 PM: Ilana Harris-Babou7:30 - 8:00 PM: Jeffrey Meris<a href="https://www.studioslinko.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Slinko</a> is a multidisciplinary artist from Ukraine and is currently living in the USA. Her artistic practice is rooted in travel and research, and is informed by social sciences. In her work, Slinko investigates the effects and workings of power on society and individuals. Slinko works across several disciplines, and incorporates forms ranging from political satire to drawings, moving image, performance, and fieldwork. Slinko has been a recipient of the Jacob K. Javits Fellowship, and an artist in residence at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Henry Street Settlement, BANFF Centre, Bemis Contemporary Art Center, and The Drawing Center Open Sessions program among others.<a href="https://ilanahb.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Ilana Harris-Babou</a>’s work is interdisciplinary; spanning sculpture and installation, and grounded in video. She speaks the aspirational language of consumer culture and uses humor as a means to digest painful realities. Her work confronts the contradictions of the American Dream: the ever unreliable notion that hard work will lead to upward mobility and economic freedom. She has exhibited throughout the US and Europe.<a href="https://jeffreymeris.com/home.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jeffrey Meris</a> is an artist who works across sculpture, installation, performance, and drawing to consider ecology, embodiment and various lived experiences while healing deeply personal and historical wounds. Meris is an artist who earned an A.A in Arts and Crafts from the University of The Bahamas, a B.F.A in Sculpture from Tyler School of Art, and an M.F.A in Visual Arts from Columbia University in 2019. Meris is a Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture 2019 alum. Meris has exhibited at White Columns in NYC, Studio 525 in NYC, The Luggage Store Gallery in San Francisco, Halle 14 in Leipzig, Germany, Mestre Projects in Nassau, Bahamas, The National Art Gallery of the Bahamas among other venues.
