Overview

Tree-Ring Talk seminar on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Noon, MST with Dr. Molly McCormick

Join us Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Noon for our next Tree-Ring Talk by Dr. Molly McCormick, Southwest Fire Science Consortium on "How to engage with Southwest Fire Science Consortium - your friendly regional wildland fire resource hub" , in Bannister 110 and via Zoom.

The Southwest is defined by its striking landscapes, stretching from the Sonoran Desert to pine forests, grasslands, and woodlands. These iconic places are rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage, and they inspire the American imagination. These landscapes are increasingly impacted by climate change and drought, altered fire regimes, invasive species, shifting patterns of human use and expansion of the wildland–urban interface, and political volatility that affect funding and priorities. Together, these forces create major challenges as we work to sustain ecosystem function in the face of unprecedented change—without a rule book to guide us. Exchanging knowledge and connecting with colleagues across geographies and disciplines provides strategies for action, builds resilience, and fosters hope. When land managers, researchers, and community leaders share knowledge, they weave together science, experience, and community wisdom—creating solutions stronger than any one group could achieve alone.

The Southwest Fire Science Consortium (SWFSC) sits at NAU's School of Forestry and has been facilitating knowledge exchange and technology transfer among wildland fire professionals for over 15 years. In this presentation, Molly will give you a taste of what Southwest Fire Science Consortium (SWFSC) is all about. You'll learn about helpful resources and opportunities for sharing your research and expertise through our network.

Please register via eventbrite and the zoom link will be sent to you. If you have any issues registering, please contact outreach@ltrr.arizona.edu
