TREE LAB WORKSHOP
Workshop - read complete overview
Join us for the second in a series of workshops providing hands-on tree care experience.
There will be three rotating modules, with no more than 10 people per module for a true hands-on learning experience.
9:00 am Registration at UF/IFAS Extension Auditorium
9:05 am Welcome Refreshment and Pre-Test
9:30 – 10:20 am Termites in Trees– Dr. Johnalyn Gordon
Attendees will be introduced to termites commonly found in trees in Florida, with particular attention paid to the identification, monitoring, prevention, and control of the Coptotermes termites.
10:20 – 10:30 BREAK
10:30 – 10:55 am Turfgrass ID and Management – Dr. Marco Schiavon
Attendees will learn to identify turfgrass and related issues and maintenance needs, along with new, updated research.
11:00 – 11:25 Termite Lab Visit – at FLREC
Attendees will visit the FLREC Termite Lab and meet the Team of Specialists.
11:30 – 12:20 pm Plant and Palm Nutrition – Dr Kimberly Moore
Attendees will learn to recognize diverse plant nutrient deficiencies.
12:00 pm Reorganization of entire group, discussion, Q&A, and post-test
12:30 pm Adjourn
The workshop is geared towards green industry professionals, landscapers, tree trimmers, pesticide applicators, nursery owners, city/county employees, HOA landscaping committes, students
This event will provide 3 CEUs for: ISA, FNGLA, LIAF
Light breakfast will be provided.
Please bring a water bottle, and dress appropriately: Closed toe shoes, pants, hats
