Tree ID Workshop

The Green-Wood Historic Fund's mission is to maintain Green-Wood's monuments and buildings of historical, cultural and architectural significance; advance public knowledge and appreciation of this significance; and preserve the natural habitat and parklands of one of New York City's first green spaces.Please note: all ending times listed are approximate, and all tickets are non-refundable unless event is canceled or rescheduled (in which case ticket price minus service fees can be refunded).

<DIV>As home to over 9,000 trees, Green-Wood’s collection of maples, oaks, beeches, and gingkoes is one of the best in New York City. But how can you possibly tell them apart? Arborist Bill Logan leads an intensive five hour workshop that begins with a close study of an array of twigs and leaves, and learning how to classify those using dichotomous keys.</DIV>

<DIV>Afterward, tour Green-Wood’s extensive grounds to practice ways of recognizing and distinguishing tree features. You’ll learn helpful tools in identification and easy-to-remember mnemonic aids.</DIV>

<DIV>This workshop is an enjoyable way to spend a spring afternoon, and you’ll pick up factoids to impress friends on your next outdoor adventure! <EM>You are encouraged to bring lunch.</EM><BR></DIV>
