Join Feminist Bird Club-Madison to learn how to ID the trees that our feathered friends perch in!
Welcome to the Madison chapter of the Feminist Bird Club! We are a bird club dedicated to promoting diversity in birding and providing a safe opportunity to connect with the natural world while fundraising to protect the rights of LGBTQIA+ folks, women, and people of color.
Join Feminist Bird Club - Madison Chapter on Saturday, August 22nd at 9:00am for the return of our Tree ID Workshop! Birders spend a lot of time looking at birds in trees, but knowing which tree is which is a different story! If you want to learn how to ID common tree species in the Madison area, this workshop is for you. We'll talk about basics of tree ID and practice with both the planted trees of Forest Hill Cemetery and the wild trees of the adjacent woodlot. We bet you'll "leave" thinking that plants are cooler than birds! 🍃
Everyone is welcome at our events, no birding experience required! Our events are family friendly and open to all who respect our mission. Whether you’re brand new to birding or have been birding for decades, we’d love to welcome you to our community.

Directions and Parking: We'll meet at the northern most entrance to the cemetery, accessed off Speedway Rd. Please use this pin for directions. You can park along the inside road to the cemetery or along Speedway for street parking.
Accessibility information: We will be walking on a mix of paved asphalt roads and mowed grass lawn. The terrain is primarily flat. We will be moving at a slow pace while we look at features of the trees we see. Please contact us directly (see email below) if you have questions about whether or not this event can accommodate any accessibility needs.
Binoculars are available to borrow. You will have the option to indicate if you need a pair before you checkout. While the focus of this event is on tree ID, we will of course keep our eyes peeled for birds!
