 Join us for an introduction to trauma informed care practices, learn concrete skills to address trauma in treatment and identify self-care strategies to use in your daily lives.
Certificates available for 7 contact hours upon completion
The morning session will focus on understanding the concept of trauma-informed care, examining ACEs’ impact on neurodevelopment, adoption of high-risk behaviors, and lifelong functioning, while also exploring the pervasive nature of trauma within the mental health field.  Participants will gain knowledge of the network of community partners and how we can work together to decrease re-traumatization and promote wellness and resiliency for clients who are involved in multiple systems of care.  
The afternoon session will highlight direct interventions designed to enhance co-regulation, self-regulation, and positive self-identify skills that can improve the functioning of clients directly impacted by trauma.   This will include a case tool to enable participants to identify the purpose and function behind obstructive behaviors, with strategies for introducing approach-goals to replace those automatic behaviors with positive coping strategies.  The day will conclude with a concentration on the risk of vicarious trauma that providers face, and the ABCs of self-care, which includes tangible tools for the lifelong practice of self-compassion and self-care.
