This presentation will provide an overview of childhood traumatic stress, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the impact trauma has on childhood development and how these may present in a child’s behavior, appearance, thoughts, feelings and emotional patterns. This training will review evidence-based interventions that are utilized by practitioners to treat childhood traumatic stress, how to create safe space with a trauma based lens, review potential hands on interventions you may consider utilizing within your own work with children, as well as de-escalation techniques and crisis response resources available within the community. Participants will also explore the role that various diverse backgrounds, experiences and abilities have on children and their families and how that informs your own practice.
