Join us for an evening of queer performance ft. an open mic opportunity and writers and poets hosted by TRANSVENGENCE and LAMBDA LITERARY.

Poet and Performance Artist Joss Barton together with The Guild Literary Complex of Chicago presents TRANSVENGENCE on Thursday March 5th at The Compound. TRANSVENGENCE is a curated performance showcase centering transgender and trans expansive writers, poets, storytellers, artists and voices.

The show begins at 7pm with a brief open-mic opportunity followed by a curated performance showcase at 7:30. Our featured performers include Eva Pensis, Zefyr Lisowski, and Bobuq Sayed.

Open mic begins at 7pm and will offer five minutes to the first six performers to sign up. If interested in an open-mic slot please email Joss Barton at joss.barton49@gmail.com with subject headline: TRANSVENGENCE OPEN MIC.

From 8:30- 10 pm Lambda Literary will be celebrating 19 years of our Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices with readings from retreat alumni and faculty; lineup TBA.

Visual artist Ali El-Chaer will reveal their cover art for this year's Emerge Anthology edited by Holly Zhou and with introduction by Kay Ulanday Barrett. Guests will have a chance to pre-order the book at a discount price and purchase past copies of the anthology.

This event is free, BYOB friendly, and ADA accessible. RSVP is encouraged for head-count purposes but walk-ins are welcome.
