American Innovation Series

This series looks at prominent inventions and innovations by Americans and how they have contributed to our nation's economic and scientific advancement.

Over the last year, parents and students have fought to reform education in K-12 schools and colleges around the country. They've demanded quality education: an education that focuses on core subjects such as math, science, history, and writing, not identitarian politics. While there have been many successes, such as the taming of ethnic studies curricula in California and the recall of school board members who stand in the way of reform, there is still more to be done.Join NAS on Thursday, March 3rd as we discuss "Transparency in Education": the road forward to enshrining these reforms in law and encouraging more such improvements in American education.Transparency bills ensure that school administrators cannot secretly continue to promote divisive theories in curricula their schools adopt. Moreover, other transparency bills encourage fiscal responsibility both at the K-12 level and at colleges and universities.Citizens and parents should know what their local taxes are funding, and college students should know what to expect at their institutions.This event will feature Matt Beienburg, director of education policy at the <a href="https://goldwaterinstitute.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Goldwater Institute</a>; Noah Pollak, advisor to <a href="https://defendinged.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Parents Defending Education Action</a>; and David Randall, director of research at the <a href="https://www.nas.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">National Association of Scholars</a>. The discussion will be moderated by John Sailer, research associate at the National Association of Scholars
