Have you been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness? Experienced loss or other trauma before or during the holiday season? Do the holidays trigger you emotionally? If you answered yes to any of the questions above, this workshop is for you. One of the hardest things to do is to make time to identify, navigate, and then communicate your emotions even to those you love. Loved ones mean well, but sometimes you need more space to explore your needs and to be authentically YOU. This is especially difficult in a trying and triggering season such as the holidays. Many families of diverse backgrounds or generational differences experience challenges with communicating feelings and prioritizing emotional wellness when day to day life stressors feel so demanding. Societal or cultural norms have historically impacted the freedom and safety to express one’s true self. This workshop will help you to identify ways to:1. Learn to manage emotions related to trauma and grief.2. Establish safe relationships to practice boundary setting and be your authentic self.3. Dismantle stigma around emotional wellness and mental health by understanding you are not alone.This workshop is uniquely brought to you by a pair of professional women who happen to be long-term friends from childhood.Tekquiree is a Cancer Thriver and Wellness Advocate. She was diagnosed with Stage IV Inflammatory Breast Cancer five years ago when she was 36-weeks pregnant. She&#x27;s the Founder of Thrive Beyond Cancer, a 501c3 non-profit organization, and the creator + host of Life Party retreat and Thrive Beyond Cancer Summit on YouTube. Dr. Smedley is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in Washington, D.C. who works with individuals in private practice and teaches students and community members about mental health symptoms and theories, respectively. Her professional interests include trauma, spirituality/theology, relationships, and overall wellness. She has been seen on NBC4 Washington, Black News Channel, and numerous journal articles offering expertise about managing trauma during challenging times.Ticket purchases automatically enter you into a special raffle.All proceeds from this workshop go to Thrive Beyond Cancer, a 501c3 non-profit organization providing financial assistance, WELLness resources, and a safe space for cancer patients + survivors to share their journey, speak their truth, and thrive.
