JUDY NEMER SKLAR is a professional artist, writer, and expressive arts facilitator in Palm Desert, California. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Arts and the Media from Chapman University, Orange, California, and a Master of Arts in Humanities from California State University, Dominquez Hills, California, on the Creative Track. She is completing her second Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling with a specialty in Expressive Arts Therapy. She works as an Artist in Residence for the Palm Springs Unified School District.

She has shown her art in numerous galleries, is a published writer, has won grants, scholarships, and national juried art awards, and has been published in magazines and brochures. In 2018, Nemer Sklar developed an educational, expressive arts workshop program entitled “Creative Life Workshops for Health and Wellness,” facilitated in large and small venues, including wellness retreats, hospitals, and organizations on the West Coast, including in the Coachella Valley at the Eisenhower Medical Center, the Annenberg Foundation/Sunnylands, and the Riverside County Office of Education.

Her art and writing have been featured in both art and wellness magazines, and she is currently researching a book based on interviews with successful mid-life artists, entitled “Artists Narratives,” which explores the artists' approach to aging and life’s transitions. During the pandemic, Sklar posted sketches daily on social media, culminating in an art and writing project titled “#6FeetApart@2020,” which offered a glimpse into the artist’s life during the COVID-19 era. In addition, Nemer Sklar has just completed the illustrations for an upcoming children’s journal and book to be published by Well Beings Studio entitled "I Am Emough."

Mission Statement: "Like an explosion of stars across the sky, like splattered paint, I keep moving and leaning into the creative process. I hope to inspire, create, continue learning from others, dazzle with color, smile at whimsy, and always fall head over heels in love with art."
