About this event

  • 1 hour

Join us for a tour of our urban vegetable farm and perennial forest farm, led by park staff.

When: Tours are offered throughout the season, and are available for registration at least one month in advance. View all available offerings through the calendar above. If you don't see a day that works for you then please check back at a later date, as we add new dates to the calendar every few weeks

Tours are approximately 1 hour. Please note that tours will not happen in the rain -- we will do our best to alert you in advance, but sometimes the forecast changes suddenly! Please reach out if you have questions about the weather forecast and its impact on your reservation.

Sign up: Tickets are free but required. Select a tour date through the calendar above, and then click the "Tickets" button to complete your registration. Please note that this tour is intended for ages 13 and up; if you would like to bring younger children to the farm, we encourage you to sign up for our Farm Tour for Kids or Family Farm Volunteer Day events. If you don't have a ticket you're still welcome to drop in on a tour, though if space is limited those with reservations will receive first priority. Also, please remember to dress appropriately for an outdoor tour, and wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty!

Location: Meet at the entrance to The Battery Urban Farm, marked on this map. Please note that Maps applications often misplace the farm entrance, so you should use these coordinates to help bring you to the meeting spot. Please also note that the northern side of the park is currently under construction, so you will need to enter the park along State Street (the map linked above outlines areas blocked off by construction).

After the tour, we hope you will linger to enjoy all that the park has to offer. Learn more about The Battery at www.thebattery.org.

COVID-19 Policy for Events:

  2. We ask that participants stay home if feeling sick or if they've had a known COVID-19 exposure in the last 5 days.

The Battery, New York City’s first waterfront park was created in 1693. Some 300 years later, private citizens established The Battery Conservancy to raise funds to transform the 25-acre landscape which had become dilapidated, downtrodden and overlooked as a sought-after destination.

Today it is the thriving green heart of dynamic Downtown New York.  It is a model of conservation and biodiversity with vast public gardens, organic urban farms, toxin-free lawns and SeaGlass, the innovative aquarium carousel. It has set high standards in planning, design, construction and sustainable park management.
