Event description
AAFA-STL & the XFL St. Louis Battlehawks are hosting a Top-8 Allergen-Free Dinner for kids and parents with food allergies!

About this Event

The Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America, St. Louis Chapter is proud to partner with the brand new XFL St. Louis Battlehawks for a night of allergen-free food and fun!

AAFA-STL is thrilled to partner with the XFL St. Louis BattleHawks, St. Louis’ homegrown professional football team, for a night of allergen-free food and fun as part of the team’s commUNITY huSTLe day initiative. The “Tuesday Tailgate” will include games, a tour of the Battlehawks’ training facility and a Mexican themed, “Top-8” allergen-free dinner with BattleHawks’ players and staff. CommUNITY huSTLe day, the BattleHawks’ volunteer and community service initiative, allows players, coaches and staff to contribute to charitable causes and activities across St. Louis. The AAFA-STL/BattleHawks’ “Tuesday Tailgate” will help to raise awareness for asthma and allergies and create a fun and delicious event that is inclusive to those with food allergies. The dinner will not include any of the “Top-8” food allergens: milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, crustacean shellfish and wheat. All ingredients and brands that will be used in the evening’s menu can be found here: https://aafastl.org/news-room/top-8-food-allergen-free-dinner-details

“At AAFA-STL, we recognize that safety is the foundation for fun,” said Ben Nordstrom, Director of Development at AAFA-STL. “Managing life with food allergies can be challenging, and can feel very isolating for families. We are so excited to create a space where parents can connect with other parents who struggle with these issues, and where kids can have a great time with these pro athletes, knowing that every possible precaution has been taken.” Educational resources for families will also be available at the event.

The “Tuesday Tailgate” will take place on Tuesday, February 25 and is open to the AAFA-STL community. Event tickets are $15 for kids under 12 and $20 for adults 12 and older. All proceeds benefit AAFA-STL. Tickets can be purchased on the AAFA-STL website: www.aafastl.org/news-events

About the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America, St. Louis Chapter

For almost 40 years, the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America, St. Louis Chapter (AAFA-STL) has provided free prescription medication and coaching to help low income children with asthma and allergies thrive. Last year, over 773 children and their families were able to breathe easier because of the foundation's support. In addition, AAFA-STL helps school nurses in over 280 schools throughout the St. Louis region by providing them with nebulizers and other equipment to stop an asthma emergency at school instead of sending children to the emergency room or home. The organization also provides trainings and other support around food allergy awareness throughout the region. For more information please go to www.aafastl.org.
