Learn a new meditation technique, Tonglen Meditation from the Tibetan Buddhist lineage. No one likes to feel uncomfortable. We avoid it at all costs. Even the animals run for shelter when it rains. The difference for us humans however is so often discomfort arises in moments of growth and opportunity. The habitual response has become to shut down. When you do shut down, when discomfort arises, you close off from possibility, opportunities and wonderful connections. Learning how to ‘sit with discmfort’ is a learned skill that when developed offers a plethora of sensations that restore balance, ease, insight, even joy.

For example, learning to sit with discomfort makes uncomfortable conversations a little easier leading to deeper connections and the development of compassion. Or the discomfort that arises from a job change or relationship challenges become fantastic opportunities for growth and inspiration. Even body pains. When the low back aches or the headaches become chronic Tonglen Meditation offers the skill for discerning the information coming through from a deeply energetic and spiritual place. What you gain is a tremendous amount of space.

Tonglen is both simple and profound making this workshop for anyone interested in gaining tools and knowledge for evolving the way they feel and act when discomfort arises.

Robin Duryea learned Tonglen Meditation through the teachings of Pema Chödrön. Practicing Tonglen for many years Robin can attest to its transformational benefits. About Robin:
Robin Duryea, a Bay Area native and longtime yoga student & teacher, taught for many years at Yoga Tree and Yoga Garden in San Francisco up until 2020. A pivotal year that changed her life's trajectory, she now resides on the Big Island of Hawaii where she owns and operates Kūaloli Retreats. Combining her passion for yoga, ancient healing modalities and with a deep reverence for spirit and nature, Robin now teaches amongst the vibrant Hawaiian elements.
