About this event

Tonalpowalli-Se is an introductory course that explores the wisdom of Indigenous Mexico through the study of the Tonalpowalli (260-day ritual calendar), specifically its 20 day signs and how they represent the natural forces that influence our lives on earth. Additionally, we will explore the psychological applications of these 20 day signs and their corresponding Teteoh (deities/generating forces).

In this course, we will delve into contemporary Mexikayotl philosophy rooted in ancestral Mesoamerican teachings and its time-keeping practices. We will examine the 20 Teteoh that are tied to the day signs from an archetypal perspective, connecting them to psychological qualities and natural phenomena. Participants will learn how to personify the qualities of the sun, rain, winter cold, spring blossom, and more. We will also explore the significance of the most sacred animals in Mexican spirituality, understanding their essential qualities and discovering how we can incorporate these attributes into our own lives.

In addition, we will explore other topics including: the cycles of birth, growth, death, and rebirth that are present in the natural world, the connection between the ancient Mexican calendars and the movements of the sun, moon, Venus, and stars, and how the cycles of these celestial bodies were incorporated into the rituals and ceremonies of the Sempowalpowalli (20-day months) and the Xiuhpohualli (365-day calendar). Join us as we walk this path to discover the rich cultural heritage and wisdom of ancient Mexico.
