Organized by

Built on the collaborative strength of two New York City theater organizations, the Fordham/Primary Stages MFA in Playwriting offers emerging writers the opportunity to develop and produce original work under the guidance of respected industry professionals. Fordham’s theatre program has a successful history of artist training. Primary Stages is an award-winning Off-Broadway theater and play development organization dedicated to inspiring, supporting, and sharing the art of playwriting. Together, these two institutions provide tremendous opportunities for training, networking, artistic development, and counseling for new play contests and residencies.

In this two-year program, students train with renowned writers, producers, and dramaturgs while exploring the theater community and productions available only in New York, the theater capital of the world. Two writers are accepted each year.
