Teachmeet Science Icons 2022, sponsored by OUP secondary, Hodder, Primrose Kitten and Pupil Progress.<a href="https://twitter.com/tmscienceicons" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Teachmeet Science Icons</a> is back and it&#x27;s face to face! This free teachmeet for science teachers will take place at St Thomas Centre in Manchester City Centre on Saturday 26th of February 2022. We are delighted to welcome 10+ teacher speakers covering a range of scientific disciplines and themes. All deposits are fully refundable on the day and/or if any cancellations due to COVID.The first tickets will be released on 1st December. Tickets are free but we do ask for a refundable £10 deposit, refunded to those who sign into the event in person. Our speakers announced so far are: <a href="https://twitter.com/edmunds_dr" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Peter Edmunds</a> is an author and head of physics in a school in North London. He was formerly a physicist, studied for a PhD &amp; was a postdoctoral research associate at UCL, and then latterly was a postdoc at Imperial. He creates and shares physics resources on sciencedoctor.school.blog and tweets teaching resources/pedagogy thoughts @edmunds_dr. His provisional talk title is &quot;Sustainable science teaching&quot;.<a href="https://twitter.com/Dr_Castelino" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dr Jo Castelino</a> switched careers from Molecular Epidemiology research to Secondary Science teaching eight years ago. Jo is keen to apply the principles of cognitive science to her teaching and is actively involved in supporting school-wide teaching and learning. She frequently blogs about teaching, including about how she teaches specific Science concepts. Jo will be talking about &quot;Making homework impactful&quot;.<a href="https://twitter.com/PaulCaden1" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Paul Caden</a> has been a science teacher for almost 20 years, he has been a head of department at Horsforth school for 10. He is a former lead practitioner for the SSAT and has run training for keynote education Ltd “chemistry for non-specialists&quot;. Paul is a current SLE with the YTSA and is keen on developing curriculum and pedagogy. He will be speaking about &quot;How to introduce Intermolecular forces at Key stage 5&quot;.<a href="https://twitter.com/vievewright" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Genevieve Bent</a> is Associate Assistant Principal leading Science &amp; Sixth Form. She was Head of Science for 4 years; is a Chemistry specialist and Science teacher. She is particularly interested in STEM and Diversity &amp; Equity within STEM (and generally) - Founder of YGASTEM. She will be talking about &quot;Contextualising and diversifying your curriculum&quot;.<a href="https://twitter.com/PhysicsJo" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jo Pellereau</a> (CSciTeach, FCCT) is an experienced physics teacher, ex-HoD and current STEM and Academic Extension Coordinator at Loughborough High School. Jo is passionate about improving student experience, academic outcomes and also supporting teacher wellbeing. She is currently undertaking a PhD in education at Leicester University and sits on the ASE Education Group and is East-Midland Secretary. She also loves physics and is a huge fan of #ChatPhysics CPD, and is part of the tutor team for the IoP Levelling Up Physics Programme. Her talk will be titled &quot;Slow practicals and integrated instructions for behaviour management&quot;.<a href="https://twitter.com/Pulzlad19" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dennis Watson</a> is currently the lead practitioner of science at a boy’s comprehensive school in Southeast London. He is very passionate about teaching and learning and believes that science lessons should be fun, creative, and engaging for learners to develop their curiosity and inquisitiveness. He has led CPD sessions on and around evidence-based inform practice and recently facilitated a training session on formative assessment. Currently, he is mentoring and coaching teachers to develop their professional practice and leadership of teaching and learning in the classroom. He is an advocate in promoting and championing the best outcomes for young people whatever their starting points. His talk will focus on &quot;How to engage learners metacognition in Science&quot;.<a href="https://twitter.com/JeroneeJ" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jeronee Jennycloss</a> is a student of an MSc in Health Data Science. She is a Science and Primary (Y5/6) Tutor for The Tutor Trust. She tweets about education (resources and CPD) and data (Tableau). Her talk will focus on &quot;connecting students of Science with the world of work&quot;.<a href="https://twitter.com/doc_kristy" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Kristy</a> Turner is an experienced secondary chemistry teacher who has a unique role in chemistry education. Alongside teaching chemistry in a secondary school she also lectures in chemistry at the University of Manchester. As part of this role Kristy carries out chemistry education research and has research interests in areas including transition between 6th form/FE and higher education, chemical equations and study skills. She is active in learned societies and subject associations and is currently the chair of the editorial board of the RSC&#x27;s flagship education magazine, Education in Chemistry. Talk title - &quot;Why are chemical equations so troublesome for students?&quot;<a href="https://twitter.com/Ms_D_Sci" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Woody Dannan</a> is a Head of the Sciences faculty at Birchwood Community High School with 10 years teaching experience. Woody is a firm believer that a well-structured spiralling curriculum is crucial to improving both enjoyment and outcomes for all students. She is interested in research and evidence which informs effective sequencing of key concepts in science. Talk Title - &quot;How I make practical activities work in the classroom&quot;.<a href="https://twitter.com/Nicolelogier22" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nicole Logier</a> is a Science Teacher and curriculum Leader of Numeracy in Newham, London. She will be talking about
